American Idol Party
Looking for a good excuse to have a party? I have one for you. American Idol. Yes. I know. Very unoriginal. But here’s the deal. It’s easy to keep the idea fresh, since no two episodes are ever the same. The show ‘feels’ different from week to week because you never know if Randy Jackson will weigh more or less than Paula Abdul, and you get mounting evidence that all the money in the world cannot buy you a decent haircut (e.g., Simon’s “Franken-do”).
But wait. There’s more.
The contestants themselves provide an ENDLESS source of discussion fodder. From whether someone has real talent (”It felt kind of pitchy towards the middle, but you WORKED IT OUT!”) to the scandals that seem to plague the show from season to season. Yeah…right. There’s no way the producers know about any of this beforehand, right? I mean. It’s just THE most profitable show in the history of broadcast television.
One party game I’ve worked out is to make everyone in the room drink, everytime Randy says “pitchy” or Paula says, “You’re special.”
