dave & busters?!!

recently my “not so young anymore” friends had a joint birthday party at dave & busters. yes, THAT dave & busters, known lovingly to its regular clientèle as D&B.

once upon a time, D&B was a great place to be (according to me, anyway). they had food, video games, pool tables, and most importantly several bars. mind you, this was the time when i was just barely past 21 so any place that carded and provided alcohol was great because there was the “i can get drunk!” factor PLUS the exclusivity factor. (sucks to be you, people under 21!) after a couple years though, D&B got old to me once i realized that the former younger folks could now legally gain entrance, and when i realized that their food was not that great, i didn’t really like video games especially over-priced ones, i never play pool and that there were a million other places from which i could get alcohol. this was the end of my short-lived fling with D&B. which brings me back to my original point of my friends having their birthday shindig there. i had to question their reasoning behind choosing a place that they were more than a decade past enjoying. so i did. their answer: self-proclaimed oldness had led them to not want to make the trek into the city. they wanted to celebrate somewhere easy that was a few exits away off the freeway and provided a plethora of parking. wow. if that doesn’t scream “old” i don’t know what does.
