birthday party mania
i have a nephew who is equal parts adorable, bratty and cautious. he’s turning 4 soon and my sister is having one heck of a time planning his birthday party. first on the list: invited guests. we calculated that there are approximately 20 couples coming which equals 35 kids that they’re bring with them. (omg. can you say, “out of control?”) secondly: the menu. fortunately for my sister (and me to a certain, but very limited extent) my mom’s coming to town and will be a much needed help in the kitchen. the menu will be a fine blend of korean food, american food and kid-friendly food. oh and my sister is just starting up her own business of cake-making which at this point in time provides very personalized cakes for her friends and all their cake needs. this means my nephew is getting a rocket cake. (shocking considering his love/obsession with all things trains.) thirdly: children’s party favors. in my single-late 20’s-life stage i never realized that party favors are an absolute must-have at kid birthday parties no matter what age the child is turning. 35 kids + my nephew and niece + any stragglers = LOTS of party favors. fourthly: one of those bouncy jump houses. (this is a sore spot for me because i never got one of these at ANY of my birthday’s growing up despite pictorial evidence of the fact that my sister had one. hmph!) look how fancy they are too:
(sweet! haha…)
so that’s all that we’ve established thus far…more to come once the party happens. (yikes!)
