No one laughs like that. Well, maybe if you are Ernie from Sesame Street.
Tonight at the 500 club I met a real life “Ernie” The 500 club is one of those places with too big a sign, but kinda warm and cozy like the inside of a sweaty boxing glove. The first time I went there, there was some old, white-bearded guy in orange prison garb playing pool. I was weary at first but the second and third time I went, he was still there. The last time I was there, he was in a flannel, jeans and Reeboks. It’s just not the same.
Back to Ernie. I said “Hello, happy birthday!” and engaged him in some conversation to get him to laugh for me. Everytime he laughed I forgot what I had just asked him. I just looked around to see if anyone was thinking what I was thinking. No one was….???
It was also his birthday and I was just in time for his birthday hostess cupcake and free round of Jagermeister shots. Not exactly the most extravagent party, but fun nonetheless.
We sang the song and got the free shots, it was gross but it was free. =) I partied with a real life Ernie! kee kee kee… How many opportunities like that does one get?
